Kinship Support Group Navigator PT (Roseville / Auburn)

MISSION:
This mission of KidsFirst is to end child abuse. Our vision is that all children live in a safe, healthy and nurturing home. Established in 1989 and headquartered in Roseville, we provide services to citizens across the Sierra / Sacramento region.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Site Coordinator, the Kinship Support Navigator performs a variety of outreach and support activities in a timely manner to ensure goals and objectives are accomplished in line with KidsFirst’s mission, kinship grant, and operational principles.

DUTIES OF THIS POSITION INCLUDE:


• Educate kinship caregivers/service providers about resources and supports available.
• Engage in active outreach and community educational activities.
• Co-facilitate the Auburn and Roseville Kinship Support Groups.
• Be responsive to support groups needs for discussion items, guest speakers, additional support needed, and reminder calls.
• Lead the support groups towards a self-sufficiency model of success.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Has raised or been responsible for raising the child of a relative or non related family member.
• Knowledge of public and private community resources.
• Demonstrated ability to work with families in a wide variety of cultural contexts and community settings.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to plan, organize, and effectively present ideas and concepts to individuals and groups.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working and public relations.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

• This is a part-time position (15-20 hours / wk) with no benefits.
• This position is supported by grant funding with through June 30, 2010.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The employment relationship between the Agency and Employees is voluntary and at-will. Employees are free to terminate their employment for any reason at any time, with or without cause. Likewise, the Agency is free to terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without notice. Should an employee find it necessary to leave, two weeks notice is considered reasonable. Employment is contingent upon passing of background checks, drug screen and psychological assessment.
