Start-up Fashion Intern (Peninsula)


We are a startup on the Peninsula that is building a beautiful style-magazine for the iPad that comprises content found throughout the Internet. We are launching our app very soon and are looking for an intern to help us with categorizing and curating content for our iPad and web apps.

Responsibilities:
- Remove/Approve content associated with clothing brands
- Tag content to brand catalog items

Skills/Requirements:
- LOVE for fashion and style
- LOVE for window-shopping
- LOVE looking at online style+fashion blogs (even better if you have a fashion+style blog)
- Very tech-savvy (for instance, you blog, you have a Tumblr, you Instagram with hashtags, you Vine, etc.)
- Owns an iPad, computer and has Internet access
- More points if you are studying/have studied fashion/design in school

Personality Traits:
- self-motivated (this is a position you can do from home, so you need to be self-motivating and self-starter)
- hungry (you really want a position in a fashion startup!)
- can-do (things will break in a startup, we want people to find ways to make things work... no excuses)
- honest (We are very fair and do not have not time for mind games)
- happy (We like pleasant, smile-y people)

    This multi-functional position works with several departments in our company including production, business, retail, marketing, client services and fulfillment.

    Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Excel) and the Internet is a big plus. Experience/interest in jewelry fabrication will also come in handy. We are looking for an intern that has the ability/desire to work as a team player, one who takes initiative and ownership of work product and space, and is very motivated. 

    We are seeking an intern that can commit to working approximately 3 or more days a week for 2 + months.

    Fashion Design/Production Internship (NY)

    New luxury fashion brand of ready to wear and lingerie is searching for full time and part time interns (2-5 days per week) to start immediately. Great opportunity to gain experience in a creative and dynamic company. 

    Applicants must:
    - be detail oriented, hard working, motivated, resourceful with a positive attitude
    - have graduated from fashion design school
    - must be able to sketch and have knowledge of draping
    - be proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, Excel
    - must have a fashion design portfolio
    - designer fashion or lingerie experience a plus

    Responsibilities include:
    - trend and market research, create seasonal mood and color boards
    - sketching
    - maintain sample status, communicate with factories and sample rooms
    - attend fittings and keep fit notes
    - sourcing of fabric & trims
    - oversee purchase orders and follow up with deliveries
    - maintain sample fabric library and inventory 
    - correspond between production manager, factory, and designer
    - running errands in garment center
    - all around assistant in a collaborative work environment

    Couture Embroidery Internship (NY)

    Couture embellishment design house located in Midtown is looking for interns for immediate recruitment. Must have a fashion background or a strong interest and desire to learn about the industry. Moderate hand sewing skills are a must.

    Requirements
    - Design Education/Experience in Fashion/Textiles/Accessories
    - Ability to free hand draw/sketch
    - Ability and desire to sew
    - Desire to create artworks, embroidery layouts
    - Eagerness to learn production process
    - Extreme organization and discipline
    - Keen sense of style/ knowledge of current fashion trends
    - Sense of urgency
    - Ability to thrive under pressure and meet deadlines
    - Ability to sourcing new materials and trims
    - Ability to work as a team/ receive critiques
    - Willingness to help with shipping and other studio errands
    - Available at least 3 days per week for a minimum of 3 months

    This is an amazing opportunity to get real hands-on experience in the fashion industry. Applicants interesting in Bridal design are extremely encouraged. You will be working directly with designers creating couture embroidery designs. We have multiple high-end clients in the city and you will be working on designs shown in fashion shows- both RTW and Bridal. Selected interns gain knowledge and experience in all areas of the design process, from concept to completion.     This is an unpaid internship however a stipend for lunch and commute is provided. Future possibility of a paid position will be based on assessment of performance during the internship and availability of open positions.
