Consumer Marketing Intern (Oakland)

Nature's Cure is seeking an intern to assist its marketing department with a variety of projects intended to grow the core acne and feminine hygiene businesses, primarily through use of alternativeonline/social media, and expand into new product areas. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to gain valuable experience and learn from seasoned professionals in the consumer product marketing and new product development area. Internship requires a 3-month commitment, but longer would be preferred. Could turn into an entry-level position based on performance and company needs.

Due to the entrepreneurial and opportunistic nature of how the business is run, we are not able to guarantee which projects will take priority during the internship. However, below is a list of the types of projects we would anticipate:

1. Social Media marketing – assist with strategy and tactical implementation of marketing using social media such as Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Social Bookmarking, Online Video etc. This could include writing blog posts or articles on behalf of Nature’s Cure; researching relevant blogs/forums and commenting and developing relationships with bloggers and readers; researching and uploading skin care tips/news, photos and videos to Facebook; producing podcasts and managing podcast sponsorships; executing sweepstakes, coupons and other tactics to entice followers/fans; helping to manage a major social networking contest promotion(see clearconfidence.naturescure.com), and more.
2. Online advertising
3. Write copy for and supervise design and distribution/printing of direct e-mails, flyers, coupons, packaging, etc.
4. Participate in new product testing and/or survey analysis.
5. Research and possibly solicit promotional partners for joint on-pack and display promotions; develop display artwork.
6. Analyze website activity and promotion effectiveness. Refine and update website and ecommerce site.
7. Work on site SEO and linking strategy.
8. Assist with new product development.
9. Develop research questions, conduct surveys & analyze results for surveys concerning advertising, packaging or new products.
10. Provide administrative assistance within marketing and in other departments as needed.
Qualifications:
-A strong interest in consumer product marketing and marketing communications.
-Strong writing skills.
-An affinity for technology and familiarity with web-based vehicles, such as social networking sites and blogs, through first-hand use.
-Prefer experience managing projects with outside vendors.
-Experience and/or education in consumer research.
-Facility with numerical analyses.
-Skills and characteristics that are valued: common sense, extremely thorough and detail-oriented, quick thinking, action-oriented, negotiation skills, analytical, clear communicator, good design sense.
-College education required
