VPL is looking for fashionable, dedicated interns with a desire to learn, a sense of creativity and an understanding of the VPL brand, starting Immediately.
Interns must be passionate about fashion design and eager to learn and assist the design team with all aspects of design for the next collection to be seen on the runway during New York Fashion Week. This is a very hands-on opportunity to experience the development of a RTW collection from gathering inspirations to sending models down the runway.
Responsibilities include:
- work with fabrics and trim, sketch flats and work with patterns for sample development
- manage design area of the studio
- work with mood boards and inspirations to develop ideas into finale pieces and new samples
- coordinate with factories, pass cut tickets and assist with sample fittings
- light office work such as filing, organizing and answering phones
Applicants must have some design experience, proficient in Microsoft Office, Acrobat Suite a plus.

Costume Design Internship (Midtown West)
Dancewear designer is building costumes for a dance tour called Shaping Sound and is looking for a design assistant intern to work by my side over the next 6 weeks! This is an AMAZING opportunity where you will be playing a humongous role in the design, building, overall shape of this tour with me, the designer. Basically, if you have any desire to showcase your designs, create costumes for the most amazing dancers and be a part of a huge event, this is your time to shine! Looking to hire immediately.
About the position:
3-5 days a week, 10 to 5pm
Sketch, research for inspiration, storyboard, create the world of this performance and each number
Source fabric, materials, notions
Pattern construction and liaising with contractors & patternmaker
Communicate with set, production designers, producers when necessary
Light sewing, altering, mock ups of designs - absolutely necessary
Must be able to fly to Los Angeles with me at the drop of a hat...and probably for the tour's premiere
MUST be able to commit to the entire 6 weeks!!!

DESIGN INTERN Responsibilities include:
- Make cut tickets for design cutwork -- distribute to factories
- Maintain style book of design styles
- Draw flats
- Make cut tickets for production (trims/paper cut ticket)
- Source trims/fabrics/leathers/linings for design and production
