Rights and Marketing Intern – The Right and Marketing Intern, will report to the Rights and Marketing Manager. Their primary responsibilities will be to assist in general marketing and international rights efforts, update marketing databases, and execute direct marketing campaigns. The Sales and Marketing Intern will learn how the book trade works, how international rights trade works, and experience electronic book and iPad publishing first hand.
Responsibilities:
• Sales Mailings – New title and backlist promotions to direct account database by imprint. Update new accounts with new materials and work in SalesForce.
• PR Mailings – Executing mailings of press release and media list for publicity. Mailings and publicity campaigns happen on a weekly basis.
• Author and Promotion events– Assist in organizing book signing and marketing preparation for trade shows.
• Sales Kit Assembly – Assemble sales kits with materials provided by marketing including: product features, pitch letters, and projections.
• Rights Mailings – Execute mailing of Rights Sales Kit, as well as ship publisher samples.
• Customer Database Updates – Update customer databases for all imprints in Filemaker on a weekly. Includes websites and individual submissions.
• Websites – Update product, promotions, and event information websites upon request (in content management system, no html or php knowledge required)
• Research – Assemble basic marketing research data on direct accounts and publicity targets.
• E-Books – Train and familiarize oneself with the Constellation digital distribution program and learn how to generate and distribute Epub files.
Insight Editions is a casual working environment (we have dogs in the office). This is a paid intern position. Please note that the fall-holiday season is the busiest time of year, so if you’re not prepared for a very active office environment this may not be the position for you—think The New York Inquirer office floor in Citizen Kane.
