Joann Fabrics Summer Internship

Logistics Internship
The Logistics Intern will assist in the development of projects and programs to reduce inbound/outbound transportation costs and improve distribution processes. They will facilitate efficient management of business trends and processes. They will also Provides research,analysis, and data for Transportation to contain cost and improve flow on inbound/outbound merchandise.

The successful intern candidate will:
*be in or entering their senior year of a bachelors or masters degree at the start of the internship
*be willing to reside in Northeastern Ohio upon graduation
*be interested in a logistics/transportation career with a fast-paced retailer
*have course work in the area of interest
*have solid academic achievements
*have a minimum 3.0 GPA

Store Planning Internship
The Store Planning Intern will assist and support Store Planning in the completion and distribution of store plans for new stores, remodels, and misc. projects and rollouts.

Intern Responsiblities:
*The intern will assist in the preparation of final plan sets including fixture plans, merchandise plans, floor finish strike plans, electrical and equipment plans and final coordination prior to distribution.

*Assist the Store Planning Team in completing fixture plans including the final fixture plan and details, fixture designations for vendor takeoffs, plan check against the planning checklist, and final floor finish plan, electrical plan, and equipment plan for use by other internal parties.

*Support the remodel/refresh process by interpreting store survey information, updating existing store plans, documenting scope of work, and preparing phase plans.

*Print, copy, and distribute plans to other departments, vendors, the field, and the Project Team. Maintain current plan records on the internal files and on the website.

*Attend plan reviews and select vendor meetings to gain an understanding of the process and decision factors in Store Planning and retail design.

*Coordinate plan backgrounds with construction to ensure proper door placements, ceiling heights, and other construction elements are shown correctly.

*Assist in creating proper drawing blocks in the system for fixtures and signage to utilize the systems for takeoffs and order lists.

*Assist in maintaining the Store Planning and Purchasing Library with current samples, spec books, project plans for use and reference by the team.

Eligibility:
*Qualified candidates will possess a minimum High School Degree and pursuing an associates degree in the field of store planning, interior design, architecture, or merchandise planning and presentation and have Autocad training and experience
*AutoCad 2000 or higher
*Familiarity with MS Office programs (Word and Excel)
*Enthusiastic and willing to learn the practice of retail design
*Organized
*Asks questions and gains understanding of the reasons behind actions
*Personable
*Able to work with a variety of individuals from various departments
*Energetic and able to manage multiple tasks
*Behaves professionally

Internships located in Hudson, Ohio and will begin in June 2009 and will last 12-weeks through August 2009. Interns will be paid $12/hour and will be expected to
work 40 hour weeks throughout the internship.
