Macy's Product Development Internship Program

Gain the knowledge of how the production cycle works with regards to a specific product line. Experiences are gained through on-the-job training with a product team, classroom-style seminars which expose the intern to such things as business etiquette, presentation skills, communication skills and time management, as well as weekly breakfast meetings with executives from Macy's Merchandising Group. This threefold approach prepares interns for a career in product development. We offer a 10-week paid summer internship, located at our division's headquarters in New York City. The program is designed to provide a view of the product development process and its supporting components with a focus on learning about the retail side of the business.

Program Structure:
* Experiential learning, including new business development through work with product development team and assigned mentor
* Weekly learning objectives are coordinated with projects and supervisory feedback to enhance your understanding of business responsibilities, including Excel in the Macy's environment
* Classroom-style instruction, on-the-job training and executive breakfast series are combined to augment learning and provide a broader overview of the company
* Cross-functional exposures including visiting with Macy's's retail divisions and external vendors
* Interaction with our subject matter experts to gain greater insight into the multitude of career opportunities available at Macy's Merchandising Group
* A team-oriented environment to enhance your understanding of the importance of coordination between functional areas to deliver the best business resultsKey Exposures:
* Specific core classes in each functional area of the business such as: product development process and technology systems training
* Exposures to marketing, fashion offices, and the competitive shopping process
* Professional development through hands-on experiential learning with one of Macy's's many private label brands
* The opportunity to develop an individual project and presentation that focuses on a particular business development strategy related to your experience and exposure during the internship
* All of our interns are encouraged to be involved in the company's community initiatives, including the popular Partners in Time Volunteer Program

Skills Summary:
* We look for students from all disciplines that have the desire to interact in a dynamic, fast-paced, competitive environment. Requirements include:
* A cumulative 3.0 GPA
* Junior status
* Completed business curriculum coursework a plus
* Excellent communication and presentation skills
* Good working knowledge of Word and Excel
