Indie Latin Magazine - Internships

Are you passionate about Latin culture? Do you wish more people knew about the diversity of the Latin cultural scene in your city? Do you want to go backstage at concerts, cover red carpets at film festivals, and listen to new music before everyone else? Then you definitely want to be part of the Summer 2009 Remezcla.com internship program. We are looking for college students to join our team.

Remezcla.com is an online guide to cutting-edge Latin culture with editions in Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and San Francisco. Remezcla.com covers a wide range of events and trends including concerts, art exhibits, films and restaurants from a hip, entertaining and smart point of view. We are a leading content provider of Latin content for partners such as Microsoft, MySpace and more.

Our internship program is designed to give talented college students interested in Latin culture and media the opportunity to gain relevant experience that complements their coursework and career objectives in a creative, professional and fast-growing company.

What we’re looking for:
• Broad knowledge of and interest in your local Latin cultural scene
• Completely immersed (and guiltily so) in Latino/Latin American pop culture trends
• Excellent writing skills in English, knowledge of Spanish a plus
• The following must not be foreign to you: ceviche, Calle 13, Gael Garcia Bernal, Juan Luis Guerra, CafĂ© Tacvba, pupusas.
• Strong computer skills (MS Office)
• Minimum GPA of 3.0
• Available to work from 16 hours a week with a flexible schedule

As part of our internship program you will have the opportunity to participate in the following functions:

Editorial
Interns will have the opportunity to work with editors in the daily production of the online magazine. This includes: covering events, conducting interviews, writing reviews, maintaining event listings, pitching article ideas, and more.

Graphic Design/Web Programming
Interns will get hands-on experience in graphic design and web programming, as well as image processing, resizing and color correction. Must be familiar with PhotoShop, InDesign, Flash, html.

Photography/Video
Photography and Video interns assist in the pre-production, production and post-production of photos and videos for our site.

Event Marketing
Interns will get to be at the forefront of promoting our brand at concerts, festivals, via our indoor and outdoor event promotional programs.
