Job Summary:
The Executive Development Program is a comprehensive 12 week training program that prepares an individual for a merchandising/management career. The training program is a combination of classroom curriculum and on-the-job rotations in various divisions of Neiman Marcus. Upon successful completion of the training program, the trainee's first position will be Assistant Buyer or Assistant Merchandise Planner at Neiman Marcus Stores or Neiman Marcus Direct in Dallas, TX.

Job Duties:
Examples of Assistant Buyer responsibilities are:

Oversee vendor support and store communication
Execute marketing events and advertising process
Recap and analyze selling trends
Assist Buyer in achieving sales and gross margin plans
Oversee product receipts
Assist Buyer in product selection and identification of fashion trends
Manage operations of the buying office


Examples of Assistant Merchandise Planner responsibilities are:

Set-up locker stock and replenishment programs
Recap and analyze selling trends
Oversee purchase order mechanics
Assist Buyer in achieving sales and gross margin plans
Oversee inventory management
Develop strategic plans, budgets and recaps
Manage operations of the buying office


Job Requirements:

Financial acumen

Communication skills

Negotiating skills

Customer service skills


The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree and although retail experience is not a must, it is a plus. The candidate should also have strong analytical skills, good communication skills and strong leadership traits.
