Fashion/Textile Design Studio Intern (NY)

We are a small but well-established fashion and textile design studio in the garment district seeking a smart, efficient, and self-driven studio assistant. The assistant is to perform tasks related to digital archiving; preparing samples for presentation and other day-to-day office errands.

Our company sells vintage print designs and garment pattern ideas to a wide range of designers from luxury-runway to mass market, so a general knowledge of the fashion market is necessary.

The person qualified for this position is ORGANIZED and SELF-MOTIVATED in finishing tasks in an effective and timely matter- because of the nature of this position you will be needed to assist on other tasks and projects in the studio, successful maintenance of several open projects is necessary.

Other daily tasks include:
- Studio Maintenance- organizing garments, categorizing prints, and overall cleanliness
-Social Media- This position will also have a social media aspect to it, maintenance of the company Twitter/Instagram/Tumblr- a good grasp of these sites is necessary and will be important to the position. 
-Online Sales- Maintenance of the inventory and aesthetic value of all online retail platforms- we also sell our collection on eBay, etsy, and other like websites, the intern would work with the team to decide on looks, pricing and style of these pages.

This position is part time and flexible- approximately 25-40 hours a week. Great for fashion design and art students.
Must be mac proficient and able to use the Adobe suite and Microsoft Office Programs.

Interior/Textile Design Internship (LA)

West Hollywood custom linen/home decor showroom is looking for an intern to assist in all aspects of daily showroom operations as well as design projects. Looking for someone with passion for interior design and a can do attitude. Must be trustworthy, organized, and unafraid to ask questions. Experience in Quickbooks, Photoshop, and Illustrator is HIGHLY preferred. Must be available 2 days a week.

This position is an unpaid internship with school credit, free lunches, and resume building as compensation. Any work related expense including mileage for errands will be reimbursed. There is the possibility of this turning into a part-time paid position for the right person.

Candidates MUST have the following skills: highly organized and detailed, GREAT listening skills and the ability to follow directions, proactively work independently, interest in the world of design, and have their own car. 

Duties include, but are not limited to: merchandising of the showroom, organizing swatch and inventory library, filing, running errands, placing and tracking orders and samples, following up with clients, installation of products at clients' homes, creating look books and reference materials, , assisting on project direction, and sketch/spec sheet drawings of custom designs. Please note: light lifting is sometimes required (linens, towels, not manual labor).

    Chromaculture Apparel Internship (SF)

    Chromaculture Apparel is a growing, private label, design oriented, screen-printing and branding company in Marin. We design and print apparel, posters and packaging for businesses, schools, events and local labels in the Bay Area.     We need some help this summer to reach out to potential customers! If you've got ideas, we're excited to hear them and work with you! 

    We need someone to work 2-3 days/week, sometimes including planned weekend events, for 2-3 months this upcoming summer, depending on your availability.

    Job duties include: 
    - managing our social media (ie: creating weekly posts on our Tumblr blog, occational updates on Twitter & Facebook, and adding to our Pinterest & Instagram)

    VPL Internship (SoHo)

    VPL is looking for fashionable, dedicated interns with a desire to learn, a sense of creativity and an understanding of the VPL brand, starting Immediately.

    Interns must be passionate about fashion design and eager to learn and assist the design team with all aspects of design for the next collection to be seen on the runway during New York Fashion Week. This is a very hands-on opportunity to experience the development of a RTW collection from gathering inspirations to sending models down the runway. 
    Responsibilities include:

    - work with fabrics and trim, sketch flats and work with patterns for sample development 
    - manage design area of the studio 
    - work with mood boards and inspirations to develop ideas into finale pieces and new samples

    Costume Design Internship (Midtown West)

    Dancewear designer is building costumes for a dance tour called Shaping Sound and is looking for a design assistant intern to work by my side over the next 6 weeks! This is an AMAZING opportunity where you will be playing a humongous role in the design, building, overall shape of this tour with me, the designer.     About the position:
    3-5 days a week, 10 to 5pm 
    Sketch, research for inspiration, storyboard, create the world of this performance and each number

    Light sewing, altering, mock ups of designs - absolutely necessary
    Must be able to fly to Los Angeles with me at the drop of a hat...and probably for the tour's premiere

    Incredibly knowledgeable about fit, function and an amazing attention to detail
    Will have had at least a design intern in either high-fashion or costume design
    In-depth knowledge and know-how of patternmaking and draping
    Can work under extreme pressure and work diligently, quickly, efficiently
    Has an incredible imagination
    A fantastic sewer - could sew all of the costumes if need be and say, if we run out of time
    Ability to trouble shoot costume malfunctions

    As I am working on a very tight budget, I will only be able to pay you a $600 stipend for the entire process. I will, however, be providing you with lunch every day and travel to LA will be paid for as well.

    Ny-lon Design is a small home textile design company based in Brooklyn. We are currently looking for a summer intern to help us out with design work and other everyday office tasks. This would be a great opportunity for grad or undergrad students that are looking to get some experience and knowledge of the textile industry.

    Key responsibilities & accountabilities 

    -Design: Under the direction of the designer, create briefs that the vendor can clearly interpret and develop textile repeats and artwork for the home market. Coordinate, file, and documents samples and artwork as needed. Acquire fabric swatches, deliver artwork, and other administrative errands as needed.
    -Trend & Market research: Assist the designer in client, benchmark & competitor research at the on set of each project as required. Keep up to date with related market activity and trends in textiles and home-wares.
    -Communication: Foster good relationships between Ny-Lon design studios, and its clients. Maintain a professional and open line of communication between the same to ensure effective studio operation throughout the design & product development process and across all parties involved.
    -Studio & design security: Keep all bespoke design work, related documents and correspondence secure and where relevant backed-up. Ensure the studio is secured and locked when vacant. 
    -Conduct: Maintain a high level of professional conduct internally, and externally.

    Required skills / Personal requirements:

    The designer and product developer should:
    -Be artistic, creative and able to draw with an eye for color, texture, pattern and form 
    -Be organised, adaptable and dependable with excellent attention to detail
    -Be innovative, resourceful, able to take initiative, work independently and remain calm under pressure
