VPL Internship (SoHo)
VPL is looking for fashionable, dedicated interns with a desire to learn, a sense of creativity and an understanding of the VPL brand, starting Immediately.
Interns must be passionate about fashion design and eager to learn and assist the design team with all aspects of design for the next collection to be seen on the runway during New York Fashion Week. This is a very hands-on opportunity to experience the development of a RTW collection from gathering inspirations to sending models down the runway.
Responsibilities include:
- work with fabrics and trim, sketch flats and work with patterns for sample development
- manage design area of the studio
- work with mood boards and inspirations to develop ideas into finale pieces and new samples
- coordinate with factories, pass cut tickets and assist with sample fittings
- light office work such as filing, organizing and answering phones
Applicants must have some design experience, proficient in Microsoft Office, Acrobat Suite a plus.

TXC Internship at Lee Jofa Fabrics
Lee Jofa Fabrics in the San Francisco Design Center is seeking internships ongoing now and through the Fall/Winter 2010/2011 semester.
These internships are UNpaid but can count as your class credit.
We are looking for High Energy, professional, mature, self starters who are interested in learning more about fabrics, furniture and textiles. You will rotate between the memo/fabric room and merchandising departments as needed. You will work closely with high level designers, clients and SFDC staff.
Position Requirements:
1) Must be available from 10 am -5 pm Monday thru Friday. NO nights or Weekends are required.
2) Must be Fluent in English, including ALL forms of reading, writing and speaking.
3) Must be High Energy, positive attitude, fast learner and extremely organized.
4) You must be well dressed, well groomed, perfect speller and have an outgoing personality.
5) Must not be afraid to sweep, mop, clean Showroom and do any and all tasks as needed to assist in the sales and organization of the Showroom.

The high-end lines we represent are Andreu World, Davis, Martin Brattrud, Nucraft, Sandler Seating, Source International and Anzea Fabrics.
This is the perfect internship opportunity for all who would like get to know the design industry from the perspective of a very successful contract furniture sales representative.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Schedule vendor visits & client appointments
- Visit clients & deliver demo chairs, samples, etc.
- Update clients’ libraries
- Create schedules for exhibitions like HD Show in Las Vegas or Neocon in Chicago
- Assist clients w/ product questions
- Create price quotes
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN:
- Product-knowledge of furniture lines we represent
- Practical usage of design terminology
- Learn how to correctly specify furniture + fabrics because you will see how designers do it
- Code requirements for fabrics, etc. for commercial use
- Process of competitive bidding / who are the players
