W Magazine Jewelry Internship- Spring 2012
Condé Nast Publications is offering an exciting internship opportunity in our fine jewelry department at W. We are seeking responsible, proactive, motivated and detail-oriented students who have an interest in fine jewelry and are eager to learn about the magazine industry. Interns will participate in a variety of projects, which may include:

- Viewing the newest jewelry collections
- Transcribing interviews with various jewelry designers
- Organizing photographs and look books
- Assisting with photo shoots
- Assist in obtaining proper insurance and credit information for photo shoots
- Liaising with PR and showroom contacts
- Completing daily administrative tasks and projects

Must have the ability to multi task while working in a high pressure environment.

All internships are located at our New York City headquarters and students must be able to work three to five days a week and receive school credit for the internship.

Jewelry assembly (Right now I am swamped with fashion week work)

Skills needed: Responsible, Creative forward thinker. Basic hand sewing and glueing is necessary. Mac Users preferred .... Everything else i can teach you but you must be willing to learn.

Internship Description:
Assist sales executives in all aspects of the Wholesale department. Internship will also give the individual showroom experience while working with account executive team.

Responsibilities include:
• Develop analytical and retail math skills
• Hands on experience with market preparations, samples, events, preparing showroom for market, assisting in market appointments, verifying orders after appointments, partaking in production and assembly of sample sketchbooks, and assisting models backstage during market appointment and runway showcases

•Helping receive/check in trim shipments and
prepare the trims for the factories
•Assisting in sorting trims when there are damages or dye lots
•Assisting cut-ticket person in swatch tickets, and writing POS.
•Checking and pulling orders in warehouse during shipping.

Fashion Handbag Company Assistant, Beverly Hills

Looking for an enthusiastic person to serve as a general assistant in a small but established high-end handbag company, as well as a personal assistant to the owner. Should be well-spoken, professional, learn quickly, organized, take direction well, bright, personable and willing to work hard! Will report to the CEO/owner.

Tasks span all areas of the business, and include:
- Answering phones/taking orders/customer service
- Data/invoice entry
- Packing and shipping orders to customers and vendors
- Pick-ups and deliveries to and from local vendors and factories
- Creating line sheets, and photographing and Photoshopping products for them
- Managing inventory/labeling/packing products
- Assistance at trade shows (sales and set-up)
- General office assistance with supplies and keeping the office in order

The main task as the owners’ personal assistant is to sell a large number of personal designer clothing items on eBay. This includes the preparation of the items for sale (steaming, dry cleaning etc), photographing them, creating the detailed descriptions, researching the correct pricing, listing the item, managing the shipping, and documenting all the sales.

The job is part-time, ideally 3-4 days a week from 2pm-5pm, paid hourly. It can grow into a full-time contract position over time with increased responsibility depending on capabilities and willingness to learn, and the companies’ needs. There is a lot of potential for growth, coming out of this recession!

Requirements for the job include:
- College degree/in college
- At least 2 years of working experience, including internships/part-time jobs
- Must own a car for local pick-ups and deliveries
- Good working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Photoshop
- At least some very basic graphic design experience, or at least a good eye for graphics layouts and photography for line sheets/marketing mailings etc
- Experience selling on eBay
