Mattel Soft Goods Print Intern (NY)


Responsibilities:
SOFT GOODS PRINT (Textile/Sewing) INTERN

Summer 2013/Full Time Internship

The intern will be expected to assist the Soft Goods Department in a variety of ways.

The main responsibility will be printing to fabric for models and coordination of materials for each request under the direction of Design and the Sr. Print Technician. The intern will also be working with Design on fashion and color approvals.
A strong fashion sense is key. Strong judgment and problem solving necessary. Related Textile Production experience helpful.

Other responsibilities may include but not limited to material sourcing, product bid package coordination and hands on sewing and development. Strong communication skills are a must and should be comfortable working in a multi-functional team atmosphere. Ideal candidates should be self-motivated with excellent interpersonal skills. Related sewing experience necessary.
Requirements:
Experience
An undergraduate (preferably a Junior) pursuing a BS degree in Fashion and Textiles.

Proficient in Illustrator, Photoshop helpful.
Experience in Nedgraphics extremely helpful.

Couture Embroidery Internship (NY)

Couture embellishment design house located in Midtown is looking for interns for immediate recruitment. Must have a fashion background or a strong interest and desire to learn about the industry. Moderate hand sewing skills are a must.

Requirements
- Design Education/Experience in Fashion/Textiles/Accessories
- Ability to free hand draw/sketch
- Ability and desire to sew
- Desire to create artworks, embroidery layouts
- Eagerness to learn production process
- Extreme organization and discipline
- Keen sense of style/ knowledge of current fashion trends
- Sense of urgency
- Ability to thrive under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to sourcing new materials and trims
- Ability to work as a team/ receive critiques
- Willingness to help with shipping and other studio errands
- Available at least 3 days per week for a minimum of 3 months

This is an amazing opportunity to get real hands-on experience in the fashion industry. Applicants interesting in Bridal design are extremely encouraged. You will be working directly with designers creating couture embroidery designs. We have multiple high-end clients in the city and you will be working on designs shown in fashion shows- both RTW and Bridal. Selected interns gain knowledge and experience in all areas of the design process, from concept to completion. We are looking for hard working, organized interns available to start ASAP.

Mara Hoffman is a small, high-end contemporary womenswear line, with a swimwear sister line. Our tight team works closely together so you will be working with everyone in the company and really get a sense of how a collection is put together from start to finish. Intern responsibilities include but are not limited to sourcing trims, researching inspiration, sewing, running sample sales, assisting on photoshoots/fashion shows and running errands to and from factories, etc.

This internship is unpaid but you will gain great knowledge along the way. We are always open to questions, reviewing portfolios with students, giving suggestions, etc.

Moi-Meme is a made-to-measure apparel business that designs, tailors and markets smart, stylish custom suits and separates for modern, professional women.

Through the company’s personal tailoring service, a Moi-Meme style consultant takes each customer’s body measurements and assists her in selecting a garment style, fabric and lining color. Each custom garment is individually tailored at our Vietnam-based tailoring shop; alterations take place in the company’s New York City Fashion District showroom.

**Internship Description**
Moi-Meme seeks an unpaid part-time intern for the summer to assist with tailoring and operations tasks. The successful candidate will work 2-3 days per week. The intern will work directly under the tutelage of our master tailor. Typical tasks include:
• Engaging in quality control, including measuring garments
• Pressing, steaming and preparing garments for delivery
• Hand sewing, including of buttons and hems
• Preparing fabric displays
• Tracking logistics for garments
• Participating in customer fittings

This is an excellent opportunity for a serious, reliable young professional to learn about tailoring from a master tailor within the fashion industry and contribute to a rapidly growing start-up fashion brand. As a Moi-Meme intern, you will:
• Learn directly from our master tailor, an individual with 30 years of tailoring experience, including as a tailoring instructor
• Gain in-depth, hands-on tailoring and operations experience
• Participate in the growth of an exciting fashion business
• Meet many talented and successful female executives, professionals and graduate students (i.e. the company’s customer base)
• Work in the centrally located Fashion District, on West 38th St. near Penn Station, Times Square and Herald Square

While this is not a paid position, course credit may be earned. The intern may be offered a part-time position at the company at the conclusion of the summer.

• Completion of at least one year of university level courses
• Basic tailoring skills and eagerness to develop them further
• Basic computer skills
• Available 2-3 days per week, including one weekend day
