Spring 2011 Logistics Internship
The Logistics Intern will be responsible for working with the Logistics team to assist in the day-to-day operations of the import department and to ensure custom compliance is met exercising reasonable care. Responsibilities include supporting all functions of the department, including:
Tasks and Responsibilities
Create and maintain files for arriving shipments, as well as shipment follow up, notifying external Sales department, Retail Merchants, and 3rd party logistics teams of arriving import shipments
Manage aspects of allocation and ensure most efficient performance through a 3rd party logistics provider.
Perform post entry auditing on import documents, relating to tariff classification and duty rates, record import entries & liquidation notices
Work on special projects as needed
Skills and Competencies
Ability to take initiative and work independently at times
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and follow-through
Ability to learn quickly and retain processes
Requirements:
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (ie; Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner (There will be extensive email communication with in-house Sales, Retail, and 3rd party logistics teams)
Knowledge of basic import procedures, tariff classification, and logistics terminology
Must be able to receive academic credit for internship
