Men's Apparel Design Intern (Potrero Hill)

SF based start up mens apparel company, is seeking an organized, energetic, self-starter to work in a part time internship with the design director in apparel and accessories development. Requires a good working knowledge of Excel and Illustrator using Macintosh systems. We are looking for an individual that has a positive attitude and excellent communication skills. That is a creative problem solver and can work well in a fast-paced team environment as well as independently. This is a great learning opportunity to improve and learn many aspects of the apparel industry, including sales, marketing, development and design.

Job Description:

• Illustrate clothing and accessories styles under designer’s direction. Complete flat sketches.
• Garment’s spec’ing (taking measurements) and data entry on excel spreadsheet.
• Assisting in tech pack development, pattern making a plus.
• Assist in fittings, create and update style sheet comments for apparel and accessories.
• Measure incoming samples and compare to specs to insure accuracy
• Organize and tag incoming samples
• Research markets, new trends and concepts.
• Special projects as needed

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

• Good knowledge of Ms Excel and Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Knowledgeable about knit and woven fabric construction
• Comprehensive understanding of garment construction and fitting
• Ability to spec and grade a plus
• Retail experience a plus
