Athleta Product Development Intern (Petaluma, CA)

The Challenge:
Working within the Athleta Product Development Calendar and following the overriding brand strategies, support Product Development Manager to manage the development of a seasonal Athleta line that meets the needs of all channels.   Primary liaison between Design and Merchandising.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Ensure Filemaker data integrity: set-up and review all data relating to each style including target retail & fabrication.
  • Continually update Database as new information becomes available.
  • Ensure all pertinent information is current prior to line review and turnover meetings.
  • Copy proofing for all style detail information
  • Collaborate with product development manager to provide all style information to copy writer
  • Support PDM in creating Competitor Benchmarking sheets and ordering appropriate samples.
  • Update and reconcile all information in Filemaker with regards to Copy bullets for web and catalog.
  • Support PDM with 3rd party apparel assortment updates. Manage FM records and communicate sample due dates to 3rd party apparel vendors.
  • Maintain Timely Communication with merchandising & cross functional partners
  • Manage and Tag all incoming 3rd party apparel samples
  • Tag and organize all purchased inspiration samples
  • Prepare samples for all assortment review meetings.
  • Organizing and maintaining departmental information including: Update presentation boards in Indesign.
  • Maintain Vendor contact information for 3rd party apparel
  • General administrative duties and special projects, as determined by Product Development Manager.
 

Qualifications



  • College Degree - BS/BA in Apparel/Fashion Merchandising
  • 0-3 years in industry experience in Misses apparel, preferably in swim and outerwear
  • Strong eye for relevant and brand appropriate product
  • Project management, analytical and organizational skills with proficiency in Microsoft applications - Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Experience in Filemaker Database a plus
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop & Indesign
  • Fitness or outdoor experience a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and follow-through skills 
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
