Kate Spade- Spring 2010

Overview:
with a playful chic aesthetic and a clean, graphic approach to design, american accessories company kate spade has become a modern american classic. the brand is well known for signature handbags, shoes, eyewear, stationery, and accessories for the home, including china, crystal, and flatware.

we are currently seeking applicants for our spring 2010 internship program at our corporate headquarters. intern opportunities are available in web production and ecommerce. the program will run from january 25th through april 30th. all students are required to receive academic through their college or university.

Responsibilities:
web production:
-work closely with the team to ensure a smooth graphic transition for the website, and especially focus on ensuring quality and consistency with our product photography
-production and quality control of all product photography for the website
-production art for new website interface elements
-graphic design of new email communication

ecommerce:
-liase between e-commerce team and photo studio
-aid the ecommerce team in daily website function
-understand a website business and how it relates to retail
-oversee all web photo shoots, including organizing and prioritizing samples, managing the shot list schedule and styling and prepping for the shoots
-help in monitoring incoming and outgoing samples through sample spreadsheet, also pick up samples from stores if necessary
-assist in recording seasonal content sheet used for product details, including dimensions, drop lengths, product details, etc
-aid in proofing website for copy and image accuracy
-keep a running document of our competitor’s emails and promotions
-select and set up cross-sell suggestions on the site

Qualifications:
web production:
-graphic designer with a strong interest in photography, interactive, and web design
-expert level of design with photoshop (loves to push pixels)
-strong typography skills
-familiarity and comfort with HTML
-familiarity and comfort with flash production and animation
-familiarity with product styling
-familiarity with photo retouching

ecommerce:
-microsoft excel
-highly organized
-time management
-multi-tasking
-strong eye for merchandising
