Art Gallery Internship (Downtown SF/ Civic/ Van Ness)

We are a contemporary art gallery located in Union Square, San Francisco, looking for highly motivated, responsible and organized interns to provide support to staff in all aspects of the gallery’s operations. Duties will include; mailings, filing, database maintenance, preparation for and installation of exhibitions, research, scanning, assistance packing and shipping artwork, as well as other miscellaneous tasks as they arise. Moreover, our interns MUST be proficient users of MS office and possess Photoshop skills. Previous office and art handling experience is a plus.

This position provides excellent exposure to the inner-workings of a busy gallery for anyone interested in a career in the arts. We offer valuable experience in administrative support, art handling and exhibition design, research and development, registration, and practical immersion in the art world.

We require a three month commitment, 2-3 days per week from 12-6p as well as attendance at all openings. Compensation is $25 a day.

Please do not apply if you do not have a specific interest in gallery work or if you cannot commit to the required three months. A quick learner with initiative, enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and genuine interest is a must.

Requirements:
- Previous work and preferably office experience
- Proficiency in MS Office and experience with Photoshop
- 3 month commitment, 2-3 days per week
- Ability and willingness to, on occasion, lift heavy artwork
