Art Gallery Intern- Client Outreach (Downtown/ Civic/ Van Ness)

Downtown gallery specializing in prints and drawings seeks a competent and enthusiastic individual to participate in its dynamic internship program. The Institute is a growing visual arts institute with works on paper (lithographs, etchings, monotypes, engravings done by the artists themselves and printed during their life-time, as well as original drawings) that span 500 years. Our mission is to promote education and appreciation of works on paper to the public, as well as the collector.

We are currently seeking an intern specifically for client outreach projects. The intern will work directly with the curator-in-charge on long-term projects concerning gallery development.

Responsibilities:
Client outreach and customer service
Updating gallery vendor/client database
Event assistance
Assistance in marketing and promotional initiatives
Some administrative support

Availability:
Interns are required to commit to a 3-month internship, and come into the gallery at least 2 days per week, Monday-Thursday, 10-6pm
Interns may be asked to be available some evenings or weekends for special events.

Personal Qualities and Applicable Experience:
Sales experience
Strong research and writing skills
Academic background in Art History preferred
Excellent telephone manners and etiquette
Self-starter with ability to work effectively in independent situations
Ability to dress in appropriate business attire
