Marketing Intern for Social Netwroking Website (Sacramento)

BiteClub is seeking college students and recent graduates looking to gain experience in online advertising, marketing, and promotions. Join our Marketing Department at our Sacramento headquarters to be exposed to email marketing campaign management and practices; marketing creative and collateral development; graphic design; journalistic contributions (research, articles, blogs), and event planning and research. In this position, you will learn how to work well in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines along with exposure to our management teams. You’ll get it all, a little busy work, a great introduction to a real world career, and a LOT of exposure to grass-roots marketing and what it takes to build a successful start-up dot.com. An internship with BiteClub must be treated like A JOB!! WHAT IS BITECLUB? BiteClub is an Online Niche Social Networking site designed for, and created by, members of the Food + Bar Culture. BiteClub serves the personal and professional interest of the Restaurant+Bar Community, offering advice, information, social networking, and recommendations for anyone who likes to eat or drink, or who wants to sell eats and drinks. GENERAL INFO: -Internship is located in Downtown Sacramento, CA. -This is an unpaid internship. -Our office environment and dress code is relaxed and casual; we want you to be comfortable! -This is a fun, creative environment where your ideas and input are welcomed! -When your eyes start to burn from surfing the web for extended periods, feel free to grab a Red Bull from our fully stocked Red Bull fridge and blow off some stream playing on our Foosball Table! (Ah, the perks of a social networking dotcom!) -For students who want to receive course credit: Please see your department internship coordinator to arrange credit. (We are already setup with CSUS, UC Davis, and Los Rio Community Colleges. We will work directly with your school, even if it’s not on our approved list, and assist in obtaining course credit). BITECLUB TARGET AUDIENCE: -restaurant and bar owners and workers; -the foodservice vendor workforce; -culinary students, -the growing number of foodies; -fans of nightlife culture. JOB DESCRIPTION: Social Media: -Demonstrate general understanding of Social Media tools and techniques including blogging and social networking. -As a contributing editor, identify relevant food + beverage industry blogs; pitch/interface with bloggers as appropriate. Research: -Online internet research, searching for relevant content to contribute to BiteClub.com. -Suggest advice on overall website performance, recommend improvements, and locate bugs in an effort to streamline website functionality. Grass Roots Marketing: -Identify locations (physical and online) to promote company image, branding, and awareness. Creative Design (if this is where your strengths lie, we will capitalize on them): -Create and design marketing collateral for website advertising and promotions based on our art direction. REQUIREMENTS: - Strong computer skills, MAC or PC -Candidates must be at least 18 years old. -Ability to complete projects in a timely manner. -Able to work independently and as part of a team. -Working towards or completed an Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in business, marketing, communications, journalism, graphic design or related field. -Looking for candidates who can work approx. 12 hours per week between the hours of 10am – 5pm. -We are VERY flexible with number of hours worked, shifts, and availability.
