Merchandiser (Los Angeles)

COMPANY DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a bright, energetic and savvy merchandiser to ensure display execution at the market level of our promotional activity. This is an 11 week, full-time contract position, beginning early to mid-June (asap), and running through Labor Day. It is a Monday – Friday, bi-monthly salaried position, with a bonus opportunity. Other incentives may be paid at a local level, and will be based on performance. This is an exciting opportunity working for one of the great leaders of the world’s premium drinks brands, Diageo! JOB DESCRIPTION:

The role of the Merchandiser is to generate incremental volume by ensuring execution against DGUSA/Diageo’s summer priorities. Top accountabilities are utilizing the five Diageo Sales Drivers- Quality, Distribution, Visibility, Price, Promotion, and Persuasion (QDVP3,) to maximize program execution at retail.

GOALS:

1. Increase distributor share of mind, ensuring retail execution
2. Increased performance of visibility, display and merchandising
3. Track pricing, promotions, displays, distribution, visibility upgrades and shelf management with immediate communication

The role will be a key component in ensuring activation of products at leading retail accounts. This will be achieved by gaining customer insights, securing prime promotional displays for our portfolio, developing a top of mind presence with retailer partners, and partnering with wholesalers and retailers on the brand portfolio. Finally, the position will pro-actively address account issues/needs and determine resource tools and sales drivers via timely communication.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Consultative/strategic selling skills; concepts of the principles of shelf flow, merchandising techniques; quality trouble shooting; strong formal presentation; problem solving; ability to work within a team; planning/organizing; extremely positive attitude; highly organized and detailed; ability to work autonomously/needs little supervision; quick learner; excellent relationship builder. 2-3 years selling experience, preferably in the alcoholic beverage industry. An understanding of alcohol distribution (3 Tier distribution system, retail codes, etc.) would put you at an advantage. Undergraduate degree is preferred. Share analysis experience is a benefit.

Overall, knowledge of market information and merchandising standards are most critical. This is a physical position, which requires lifting up to 25 lbs, throwing cases, and building displays. Ability to build displays, fill shelves and “get hands dirty” will get you this job!! Must be 21 or over.

SOFTWARE:
Proficiency with space management software – i.e. ProSpace/Intercept/Apollo; proficiency in Microsoft office; excellent oral, written, and electronic communication skills.

NOTE: Must own/have access to: Computer, Cell Phone, and Car. Stipend for cell phone (125/month, no receipts needed) and mileage reimbursement (at 50.5 cents/mile).
