About the position:

The Sacramento News & Review seeks a self-directed, creative, bright, energetic, proactive individual to manage all aspects of a wide variety of ongoing community events. These events expand our presence out into the community and spotlight local artists and musicians. This person will be the shining star that will enhance our presence as a member in the community! They include:

·Monthly Second Saturday: showcasing local urban arts & crafts vendors (as part of downtown and Del Paso Second Saturday events).
·Monthly Third Saturday: a creative block party with music, fashion, and art featuring local urban arts & crafts vendors.
·Frequent JAMMIES showcases at local malls and other venues.
·Frequent events such as our staff parties and open houses.
·Annual SAMMIES concert honoring Sacramento’s best musicians; often preceded by a series of SAMMIES musical showcases.
·Annual JAMMIES contemporary concert at the Crest, showcasing Sacramento’s best teenage musicians and singers; often preceded by a series of JAMMIES musical showcases.
·Annual JAMMIES classical concert at the Mondavi, showcasing Sacramento’s best teenage classical musicians and singers.
·Additional events and showcases as opportunities present themselves…

The following responsibilities may be included in the job description or provide opportunities for growth, depending upon the applicant’s abilities:

·Stage direction for the annual SAMMIES and JAMMIES events.
·Event sponsorship sales and bulk ticket sales.
·Event marketing and social media.
·Overseeing the production of the SAMMIES and JAMMIES event supplements.

The position reports to the Director of Advertising, and works closely with the sales, editorial, design and web departments. The position manages a staff of interns and one part-time events support person. The position is full time, 40 hours/week, but includes evening and weekend hours.

Required Experience:

·Minimum 2-3 years of experience managing all aspects of events.
·Successful experience in all aspects of event coordination including auditioning/previewing and selection of talent; the development of performance programs; venue selection; tech support, sound, and setup; ticketing function; budgeting; event promotion; managing interns and event staff.

Desired but not Required Experience:

·Experience developing marketing concepts for campaigns and writing press releases.
·Experience in stage direction of music productions.
·Familiarity with sales process or sales experience.

Compensation includes a salary of $1230.00-$1346.00 bi-weekly and a benefits package including health, dental, vision, a 401(k) plan, and paid-time-off.
