Art Gallery Intern (SF)

Linearis Institute, a downtown gallery specializing in prints and drawings seeks a competent and enthusiastic individual to participate in its dynamic internship program. We represent works on paper (lithographs, etchings, monotypes, engravings done by the artists themselves and printed during their lifetime, as well as original drawings) that span the past 6 centuries. Our mission is to promote education and appreciation of works on paper with both the public and experienced collectors.

We are currently seeking an intern with a background with experience in Graphic Design. In addition to the daily administrative tasks and responsibilities, the intern will work directly with the curator-in-charge and gallery administrator on gallery marketing projects.

Please note that this is a 3-month internship starting mid-May.

Responsibilities:
Assistance in marketing and promotional initiatives
Reception duties, including phone, e-mail, and mail
Cataloguing of the collection
Releasing and maintaining gallery inventory
Maintenance of gallery database
Administrative support
Event assistance
Packing and installation of artwork occasionally required

Availability:
Interns are required to commit to a 3-month internship, and come into the gallery at least 2 days per week, Monday-Thursday, 10-6pm
Interns may be asked to be available some evenings or weekends for special events.

Compensation:
This is an unpaid internship; however, we can arrange for academic credits.

Personal Qualities and Applicable Experience:
Strong research and writing skills
Experience or academic background in Graphic Design
Proven multi-tasker
Academic background in Art History preferred
Excellent telephone manners and etiquette
Self-starter with ability to work effectively in independent situations
Ability to dress in appropriate business attire
