Women's Fashion Internships

Single Dress, is building their team for 2010 and wants to meet like-minded fashionistas out there who are passionate, reliable, committed and eager to learn. We are a tight knit, dynamic, high-end fashion team with a focus on contemporary women's apparel.
We are seeking immediately available Interns for Production, Design / Development, Operations and Sales / Marketing Departments.

These are non-paid internships. We do offer school credit. Open to all majors but interest in fashion and dedication is key. Learn what it takes to succeed in the fashion industry!

Candidates must be available to interview within the next 2 weeks.

Start date: Spring February 2010
Immediate ASAP
Minimum Commitment: 3 months
Required: Valid driver’s license and own transportation necessary.

PRODUCTION / DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT INTERN: This person will work within the production department. Must be a highly motivated team player that follows directions, communicates effectively and works well under pressure. Understanding of garment construction, patternmaking, fabrics, findings, sampling and sourcing helpful. Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Adobe Illustrator is a MUST.

Detailed Tasks:
Effectively communicate internally and with vendors to coordinate and assist in daily runs

• Assist in preparation of all production packet documentation integral to efficiently handing styles off to vendors and assist in obtaining credit/term paperwork to be filed for new vendor
• Assist in inventorying and distribution of interior and exterior marketing including hangtags, brand, size and care labels as well as shipping supplies to be passed off to vendors
• Assist in aspects of research and development including updating trim, fabric and sourcing library
• Assist in the execution of Look Book,
• Assist in the execution of the line sheets line sheets,
• Assist in the sample distribution.
Assist in flat (technical drawing) for design seasons. Knowledge of spec measurements a plus.
• Assist in coordination of sample sales, special events and projects

SALES / MARKETING: This person will work within the sales and marketing department, must be comfortable communicating with all departments and strategic partners. Including showroom, PR firm and stylists and editors in a professional manner. This individual must be organized and detailed oriented. Computer savvy with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Excel experience necessary, Photoshop and/or Illustrator experience a must.

Detailed Tasks:
• Assist in coordination of sample sales, special events, tradeshows and projects
• Assist in maintaining sample racks and tracker as well as facilitating inbound and outbound sample pulls and returns
• Maintaining press kit and image database
• Assist in styling photo shoots

SOCIAL NETWORK/MEDIA INTERNS
Candidates will work closely on marketing and social media projects addressing current business needs, with the opportunity to make significant impact.

Detailed Task:
• Assist with creating relevant, engaging content that aligns with the brand as well as resonates with brand target demographic.
• Develop a comprehensive editorial calendar that identifies resources and their areas of coverage.
• Assist in researching trends for blog posts
• Assist in brainstorming ideas for content
• Assist with corporate blogging
• Identify and recommend strategic partnership opportunities and promotional programming through social media
• Assist in monitoring the social web
• Researching blogs that align with the brand, messaging and marketing pillars
• Research other competitive and/or non-competing brands’ (within industry/category) social media activities
• Recommend overall strategy and tactic for co-branded partnerships and promotions
• Present outcome of research, programming recommendation and marketing impact


Qualifications:
• Strong written communication skills
• Familiarity with social networks and social bookmarking (Flickr, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Delicious, Digg)
• Keeping up with social media technology and news

ECOMMERCE SALES INTERNS

The ideal candidates are working on a degree in graphic design, marketing, communications, public relations or a related field. Proficiency in Ecommerce and new media technology skills is a must.

• Web design
• Updating and maintaining websites
• Taking Product photography for E-Commerce Site
• Creating Description for Styles

Qualifications:
• Strong written communication skills
• Knowledge of Photoshop
• Understand Ecommerce
• Understand and know how to use SEO
