Sausalito, CA (Bay Area) and/or Emeryville, CA (Bay Area)
10-12 Weeks (20 hours per week) with the possibility to extend or turn into full-time role
Big BOING is a fast-growing product innovation and brand launch company that has historically focused creating new toys, games and food for kids. We have recently acquired the rights to launch apparel for one of the world’s top 10 most known and beloved brands.
We’re currently seeking an energetic, enthusiastic fashion designer who wants to lead the charge to design a new branded line of apparel for this popular brand and shape the style guide to be used for years to come. We are interested in candidates who have a proven entrepreneurial bent, strong academic record, creative educational background and can-do attitude. Must be proficient in Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and must be Internet savvy.
Job Requirements
• Min. of 1-2 years of experience in design with an established fashion designer
• Must have ability to sketch well, in addition to strong graphic design skills
• Must provide portfolio and samples of work
• Design leadership and ability to execute creative vision with limited direction
• In-depth knowledge of Photoshop/CAD illustration, print, and pattern design
• In-depth knowledge of textile design, fabric construction, and printing and dyeing methods
• Demonstrated high taste level and creative ability
• Presentation and organizational skills
• Commercial sense and market knowledge
• Ability to prioritize and manage workload with multiple deadlines
• Ability to research and apply market/trend information
• Passion for USA and Active Lifestyle
• Ability to design for both mass market (ex. - Wal-Mart) and premium market (ex. - Neiman Marcus)
Job Description
• Manage deadlines between Design and Production
• Create first thorough production patterns for new branded line
• Conduct first fittings for production, communicate and implement necessary corrections.
• Aid with Spec sheets, Flats and Storyboards to ensure production stays on target.
• Ensure textile design package is complete, accurate and handed off to be approved and sent for production on scheduled time.
• Work closely with brand leaders to maintain brand integrity
• Execute garments and construct patterns aligned with the philosophy of design

We have an opening for a Chinese (Mandarin-specialty) language intern to start immediately assisting our agency staff on numerous accounts in multiple capacities. For the right candidates, this is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience while building incredible resume material.
We are seeking students, graduates or grad students majoring in marketing, PR, journalism or advertising, with at least one internship at an agency or other related experience. You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be computer savvy (Microsoft Office is a must, others such as Quark etc. are useful). Also you must be able to read and write Chinese well enough to help us translate documents, as well as be a fluent speaker.

Business News and Reserach Intern (San Francisco)
You will work with a team of 15 reporters, editors and researchers in downtown San Francisco on a publication named one of the five best business weeklies in the nation. We cover real estate, nonprofits, biotechnology, health care, finance, technology, law, sports, hospitality and green business.
We’re looking for interns with journalistic training who are committed to straightforward reporting and accuracy. Interns report and write stories for both the print edition and web site as well as proofread and handle a few minor administrative duties.
Internships normally run 3 to 6 months. The internship begins in August, though there is an opportunity to work in the newsroom for three weeks in June.
Pay is $12/hour.
You need:
• To have solid journalism experience at a student newspaper and/or an internship at a newspaper, magazine or web site. Business journalism experience is a plus.
• To have with a strong command of English grammar, usage and punctuation.
• To be dependable and organized.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be enrolled in college---our internships are for SCHOOL CREDIT ONLY
- Available to work a 20-25 hours per week within standard business hours
- A working understanding of layout, type and color.
- Extensive experience with Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign on Macintosh OSX.
- Experience in Flash or GoLive helpful, but not required.

DURATION
Internships are offered during the summer and on a semester basis. We are flexible with student schedules and can customize a schedule that works best on a case-by-case basis.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design projects (advertising, collateral, environmental, interactive, identity) based on direction provided by the design director, designers or creative director, as well as contributing to or leading the direction of a project.

- Help build design library to use for reference resource for new projects.

- Provide help preparing materials and/or mounting boards for creative pitches or presentations.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Based on original concept, flush out additional elements within scope of project.
- Taking projects from layout to completion: designing, creating art (Photoshop or Illustrator) preparing files for electronic output (or for use in multimedia/web),
- Revise original designs with client or internal changes while maintaining design integrity.
- Image searching based on concept or art/design direction.

Blake Bäkken, Design Director, on a day-to-day basis.
