Computer Courage, Inc. is hiring a flash/web/graphic designer.

Job Description:
Join an exciting small web and graphic design team in Berkeley, CA. You will take an active role in a team which is focused on creating websites, blogs, interactive online content, marketing materials, and branding. You will have the full support of the group, training from your supervisor, and an opportunity to bring your own design vision to the company. You must be a good communicator, and be able to see yourself through a project from start to finish.

Skills required:
Flash, Actionscript, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator. Graphic design skills.

Other helpful skills:
Actionscript 3, WordPress, SQL, AJAX, Object Oriented programming,

InDesign Responsibilities:
Each member of our team plays the lead role on several projects, and contributes to several others. As a project leader, you will be responsible for project oversight, communication with clients, and most of the design and programming. As a contributor you will help troubleshoot code, and provide graphic design. You will be the sole Flash developer of the team – ActionScript skills are a must.

Experience:
3+ years experience in web and/or graphic design, school counts. Must show demonstrated ability in HTML, CSS, Actionscript and PHP programming. Talent is a requirement, a long resume is not – show us what you can do even if you haven’t been employed as a designer before. Students welcome.

Part time hours:
9am to 5pm, 2-3 days per week to start, more days later, in our Berkeley office. No telecommuting.

Pay:
An hourly wage of $15-$25 will be determined based on experience and performance.

Interested in getting real world multi-media experience and working with really cool content? Join our team as a multi media intern and help us extend our leadership position in the Surf industry! We create training and fitness videos and web content for surfers and in two years have become the recognized experts in the industry. We are looking to significantly expand our online presence and as such are looking for a creative, organized, ambitious graphic design intern to help us achieve our goals.

Our early mission was to produce world-class, surf-specific fitness products and services that benefit the health and wellness of surfers and the environment. In just a few short years we have achieved this mission but are looking to expand. Another key aspect of our company is making sure we do our fair share to lessen the impact our business has on the natural environment in which we work and play. All of our video packaging is made with recycled materials, and we donate 1% of annual profits to the Surfrider Foundation. Our clothing is made with sweat-shop free labor, and is made in California.

Duties Include:
- Web site design and production. Should have experience creating bug-free, highly usable, functional web sites
- Graphic design (web, print, online banners, clothing). Create exciting graphics to help extend our brand and product line
- Video editing (Final Cut Pro desired). Help us with editing of surf and fitness related videos for the web
- Flash development. Help launch our new video platform with your up-to-date Flash skills

Required Skills:
-HTML/CSS (PHP is a bonus). Dreamweaver or similar is OK
-Photoshop and Illustrator (expert level)
-Final Cut Pro
-FTP
-Excellent communication and teamwork skills mandatory
-Interest in fitness, surfing or sustainable business a plus

Compensation:
This is a paid, hourly position.
Salary depends on experience.
This is a part time position, likely amounting to 10 hours / week.
We will throw in some free training and surf lessons as a bonus!
Ability to work remotely, though meeting in the SF Bay Area on occasion will be necessary

News Writer/Editorial Trainee for Fashion Industry Magazine (Midtown West)

This is an ideal position for someone who loves to write and wants to do it full-time. As part of our staff, you will immediately become integrated into a busy editorial team and begin reporting news and trends about the apparel industry. You will quickly build up to a number of other responsibilities, including proofreading, copy-editing, working on photoshoots and otherwise partaking in the production of several magazines (though the position will always retain a heavy emphasis on writing). In this job, you will get to learn a great deal about magazine publishing.

Qualified candidates should have decided on a career in journalism, must be team-players and have 1-2 years of experience (internships okay). Candidates must be willing to take on writing assignments from day one. Knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop and Dreamweaver is a plus. You should also have an appreciation for fashion and the desire to learn the intricacies of this industry.
