Our 12 week Summer Internship Program is held at the Lands’ End corporate headquarters in Dodgeville, WI. Dodgeville is a community of about 4,000 that offers charming restored buildings with plenty of stores, specialty shops, restaurants and professional services. Nearby Governor Dodge State Park is Wisconsin’s largest with over 5,000 scenic acres, two lakes, and a waterfall.

In contrast, located just 45 minutes from Dodgeville is Madison. Madison is a progressive, cosmopolitan city of 200,000 and home to the prestigious University of Wisconsin as well as the state capital. With four lakes and over 200 parks, it is one of the nation’s most scenic cities. Popular events in Madison include the Farmer’s Market, Blues Fest, the Taste of Madison, and Concerts on the Square. POSITION SUMMARY
The 12 week Merchant Internship is designed to give students an overview for the retail industry and the buyer life cycle. Activities may include, Merchandise Selection & Development, Assortment Planning, Pricing & Promotional Strategy and In Store Execution. Interns spend their time working with a seasoned Buying team, shadowing cross functional Merchant support team members and attending various business meetings. RESPONSIBILITIES >>

  • Actively maintains awareness of products, customer preferences, and competitors to keep current on ways to better service our customers.
  • Documents category level activities around the buying life cycle to demonstrate competence in each area of responsibility.
  • Responsible for ad hoc projects that support merchandising strategic initiatives.
  • Provide analysis and feedback on current business and/or process improvements to various levels of the Merchandising management team including: Senior Vice President, Vice President, Divisional Merchandise Manager, Buyer, and HR.

Our Corporate Internship Program in Merchandising provides a select group of college students in their junior year an opportunity to experience being a merchant at Abercrombie & Fitch for 10 weeks over the summer. Interns work for one of our five brands and will be placed on a specific product category for the summer. After two weeks of intensive training, interns will oversee vendor communication, attend fittings, participate in design reviews, and have a thorough knowledge of the business they are working on.
