Downtown contemporary art gallery accepting applications for three month internships. Interns work two days a week and learn all aspects of business, including art handling, installation, inventory and archiving, as well as provenance and documentation. Exposure to gallery process will include fulfillment and client relations, research and collateral publication, curatorial and media considerations and event planning. Consideration will be given to applicants with strong organizational and communication skills, and a working familiarity with art history, particularly Modern and Contemporary Painting. Preference will be given to those who have an interest in a career in the arts. This is a non-paid position with a track towards possible compensated consulting position with the gallery. Bella Pictures, the country’s largest wedding photography company, is seeking talented, enthusiastic, visual storytellers for its 2010 Spring/Summer National Photo Internship Program. Bella emphasizes a photojournalistic style in its work. The photo management team at Bella combined has more than 100 years experience in photojournalism : as newspaper photographers, photo editors, wire services managers and photo department directors.
About the Internship
Interns will shoot along side experience certified Bella photographers at 6 weddings over a 7- week period. All program participants will take part in a weekly group conference call as well as one-on-one meetings and wedding critiques.
This unpaid position is a terrific way to build your portfolio, get extensive feedback and instruction, and to get real wedding experience. Each Saturday, you will shoot a either a 6 or 8 hour wedding. Depending on travel time, you will spend about 8-10 hours each weekend in the internship. Additionally, you will spend 3-5 hours during the week receiving training and preparing for your assignments. At the end of your internship you will walk away with a professional 72-image portfolio that highlights the skills you’ve honed throughout your internship.
Two thirds of our interns from this past summer’s program have already been certified as Bella photographers, and have received assignments as lead photographers. In today’s competitive market, this program provides a great opportunity to jump start your career in the wedding photography industry.
Requirements:
• Be enrolled in or a recent graduate from a photography program within a university or college with a focus on commercial, photojournalism, or wedding photography
• Be available to work every Saturday within a 6 week time frame determined for each intern
• Be available for a one hour group phone conference every Wednesday morning throughout the duration of the program, as well as one, 1:1 hour conference with program coordinator (while in front of a computer) each week of program
• Have access to 2 professional camera bodies, 2 professional flashes; a fast wide angle lens (i.e 24mm f2.8 or 17-35mm f2.8), medium focal length fast lens, and a longer lens (i.e. 70-200 f2.8) Memory cards that will hold enough for 1 wedding in a weekend (2,000 images each wedding, .jpg)
• Have reliable personal transportation
• Have access to a computer / software to process and edit images
